Travel technology leader becomes an ally of the LGBTQ+ community
Amadeus reveals it's joined IGLTA
Travel technology provider and GDS Amadeus has announced it has joined the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) as it works to fulfil ambitions as an active ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
This move is just the latest in the company's support for the LGBTQ+ community. It became a supporter of the United Nations Standards of Conduct for Business for tackling discrimination against Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, & Intersex people in 2018.
The company is also a founding member of REDI (Red Empresarial por la Diversidad e Inclusión LGBTI+), the first Spanish business network of professionals promoting LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion at work in organisations across Spain.
Internally, the company has Amadeus Proud - a global employee resource group where LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies can come together and be themselves regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.
“IGLTA welcomes Amadeus with open arms! Its commitment to inclusive travel experiences truly aligns with our mission to advance LGBTQ+ tourism," said John Tanzella (he/him), president and CEO of IGLTA.
“Its global influence adds tremendous value to our community, and we're excited to see the collaborative opportunities its membership unlocks.”
Ana Doval, senior vice president, people & culture of Amadeus (she/her), said: “At Amadeus our aspiration is to be one of the leaders in diversity, equity and inclusion in the technology industry, enabling every employee to reach their full potential.
"We work to foster a culture of belonging, attracting the best talent from all backgrounds, and positioning the company as a role model for an inclusive employee experience.”
Till Streichert, chief financial officer of Amadeus, and executive sponsor of Amadeus Proud (he/him), added: “Support for the LGBTQ+ community has been front of mind for Amadeus for many years and our membership in IGLTA is further tangible proof of our commitment.
"We celebrate the diverse global LGBTQ+ community, striving to create cross-cultural understanding and a more inclusive world.”
